Live to see another day

a life that's spent in anger,
another that's almost too frail
to last for even a single day
past a moment of torture.

efforts to toil and persevere
may sometimes go in vain
wither and dry and fall they may
but never to cost a future

why then must one be so in haste
to tie a throat, to slit a vein
to pop some pills, and run from pain
a life of chase is but a waste

when the world is harsh and full of sin
when sorrow's great and troubles thicken
when the lights dim and hope runs thin
you tune it all out, and look within

empty your minds, open your hearts
gather your strength, fight ever so hard
never succumb, don't surrender
live another day, if not forever

tail-less cats and cat-less tails

Cats and tails.
they go together.
A cat without a tail
has no identity.
A tail without a cat
has no purpose.
Both of them
if drawn asunder
defy all sanity,
fight all repose.

A dream for one

her eyes are closed,
her lashes laced
moonlight gleams off
her tear streamed face.

a troubled mind
a chronic ache
that fills her heart
but never wakes

endless slumber
uneventful
neither peaceful
nor too painful

she's lived like this
most of her life
no one to hold
nothing to hide

she does not miss
the world unknown
'twas never seen
or ever shown

the world she sees
is deep within
another realm
an endless whim

the tide may rise
the clouds may shift
the birds may chirp
and streams may drift

but all she knows
turns into smoke
the smell of a rose
the scent of a dream

a train of thoughts
a soothing hum
they blend into
a dream for one

18 till I die

I turned eighteen a few days ago, and it got me thinking. I know that this birthday was supposed to be extremely significant, and mean that I was finally considered to be all grown up. But it doesn't feel that way. I'm still the same me. I look the same, I'm wearing the same clothes, I go to the same college, and my daily activities remain unchanged.
Though what I do will change over the years, I doubt it'll have much effect on who I am as a person.
Maybe I will always be young at heart. Maybe I will always have dreams too big for me. Maybe I will always be a little stubborn. Maybe I will always have the same feelings I have today. Maybe I will be 18 till I die.

doomsday! (oooh :P)

Have you ever wondered
Even hypothetically
How the world would be
After quarter of a century?

If you'd still be where
You stand right now
If your dreams are fulfilled,
And if so, how

As the Indian poet Kabir said
Do all now before it's too late
'Cause one day we might all be dead
In a devastation brought on by fate

We could get burnt by the awful heat
Or swept over by waves of doom
When mankind is at risk of defeat
And nature decides there aint enough room

So believe in prayer and unity
And strive for the good of humanity
Wear a genuine smile, be happy
And be nice to everyone you see

Open your hearts, be humane
Tell your dear ones, "I love you"
For the end could be near, you know it too
And "happily ever after" may never come true
