I'm scared
to turn out the lights
'Cause you're not here for me
in the middle of the night.

Who'll fight my fright
and bring me delight?
Who'll be my armourless knight?

This distance leaves me incomplete.
Where you are gone,
loneliness creeps.
You leave me with a hollow pit,
Into it the sad pain seeps.

But through the bitter
the sweet comes through,
when I remember
that being apart
is what makes me think
more of you

So that way
you're always in my heart
and i feel somehow closer to you.

Forgiveness

Is one's relief another's pain?
Is a simple encounter much too plain?

Does it have to evoke a mighty tide?
To bring back the past, from deep inside?

Does it feel better to hurt the other?
Does that really help a future together?

Are you truly willing to let it go?
Or is all an act or a show?

Do you believe its good for you?
Or is your love for the other indeed true?

Do you forgive now, and later sigh?
Or does forgiveness last a lifetime?

Bursting with feeling, longing to express
But I cant find words, cant analyse
Cant break it down, and make it clear
It needs to be felt, its not something to hear
Its not my story, or a confession either

How I wish someone could probe
Into the depths of my mind, or into my soul
To be on par with who I am, and to know
And feel, the things I don't show
And to catch on, when I let it go

I must be patient, I must lie in wait
I must be silent, and just have faith
That someone someday will come around
And revel in this, my person, they've found
And be my voice, release my sound

Summer Haze

I had thought it was special,
What you and I shared;
The mist of the mornings
The warmth of the shade,
The flame of cool satin
In every kiss we spared...

But the fluttering of eyes
Brought new sight one day,
When my tears had ceased
And the fog had cleared,
Realisation dawned on me
On that fine summer day...

The flame that once blinded
Now ignited more of me,
Until I couldn't help but see
It wasn't you after all
That put me in a daze;
It was a summer haze

in the darkest darkness
before dawn breaks
in the deepest of waters
in the blackest of lakes
at the steepest climb
when the ground shakes
when you are forced
to up the stakes
it might seem like
it's only snakes
and the ladders have all
been displaced
but one plus one remains two
and every step forward
makes a winner of you
it might be slow
in the wetness of snow
or a tangle of reeds
in those deep black seas
but forever be faithful
to the drop of light
the golden saviour
in the distance hovers
waiting to lead you
those two steps forward
