the windows are splattered and foggy
the carpets are flatter and soggy
the curtains have lost their usual stillness
and the silence is just a memory
incessant rain, gloomy mornings
time flows slow into gloomy evenings
just like the water on the streets
without a bother, with nowhere to go
not much to do inside, or even outside
no-one to share this rare holiday with
except the tiny and pesky insects
and possibly a few rodents
its a good thing we dont have school
because that would mean writing exams
but exams have ceased to be important
now all i care about is a break in the chain
a change from the blatant emptiness
that fills my precious holidays
id give almost anything to do
something that isnt nothing
